A meeting was held in Dubai to develop cooperation with representatives of the ADB

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 2 December, in Dubai, a delegation of the Ministry of Economy and Finance held a meeting with representatives of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) on the further development of the green economy in Uzbekistan within the framework of the 28th UN Conference on Change climate (COP28).

The meeting was attended by Xiaohong Yang, Deputy Director General of the Asian Development Bank for Central and East Asia, Kathleen Ann Coballes, a specialist in the climate change and sustainable development department, and Begzod Jalilov, chief economist.

The main purpose of the meeting was to discuss problems related to climate change in Uzbekistan, plans for the transition to a green economy and green growth projects. This included the introduction of innovative technologies in the agricultural sector, infrastructure development, as well as projects aimed at improving transport and communications.

The agreement to expand cooperation between the government of Uzbekistan and the Asian Development Bank is important for adaptation to climate change in the country. Particular attention is paid to agriculture, efficient use of water resources and improving the energy efficiency of buildings.

The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the field of climate change mitigation, adaptation and transition to a green economy is an important step for both parties. This underscores their commitment and commitment to working together in this area.

The agreement to further expand cooperation in the development of a green economy in Uzbekistan is encouraging news. This demonstrates the commitment of both sides to deepen efforts towards sustainable development and climate action.

Conference of the Parties – COP is a Conference of the Parties that convenes every three decades since the adoption of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change to determine the ambitions, responsibilities and commitments of member countries regarding climate change.
