Government delegation of Uzbekistan visits the Czech Republic

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - A delegation of Uzbekistan led by Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov is visiting the Czech Republic.

After the official welcoming ceremony, the delegation of the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov and the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic Petr Fiala held a meeting.

Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala said he welcomes the reforms being carried out in all areas under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

In recent years, under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, significant work has been carried out in Uzbekistan to liberalize the economy, strengthen market mechanisms, develop the banking sector, expand privatization, strengthen legal protection, and fight corruption.

In turn, common goals and, of course, positive changes in Uzbekistan increase the attractiveness of our country for foreign partners, including the Czech Republic. This is confirmed by the agreements reached during the visit of the delegation led by the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic to our country on 24-25 April 2023.

At the meeting, the state of affairs and long-term tasks for the development of trade, economic and investment cooperation between our countries were discussed.

Today, about 50 enterprises with the participation of Czech capital operate in Uzbekistan. The development of industrial cooperation will be no less beneficial for our countries.

As noted, in January-August of this year, the volume of mutual trade increased almost 2.5 times. This was also facilitated by the fact that Uzbekistan joined the European Union’s Generalized System of Preferences (“GSP+”).

However, it was noted that this indicator does not correspond to the existing potential and it is necessary to actively work to correct the imbalance in mutual trade.

Uzbekistan is interested in exporting finished products that meet the high standards and technical regulations of the European Union.

From this point of view, it was proposed to establish cooperation in the field of testing with the aim of certifying industrial products produced in our country on European markets with a single “CE” (Certification Europe) mark.

The meeting also discussed issues of strengthening and further expanding mutual cooperation in a number of areas, such as investment, construction, agriculture and food industry, transport, employment, education, medicine, tourism.
