Shavkat Mirziyoyev expressed condolences on the death of academician Nazar Turaev

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Science in Uzbekistan suffered a heavy loss. On 3 October 2023, at the age of 85, a prominent scientist in the field of physical electronics, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor, and Academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan Nazar Yuldashevich Turaev died.

Nazar Turaev was born on 19 May 1938 in the city of Denau, Surkhandarya region. In 1961 he graduated from Samarkand State University and began his career as a junior researcher at the Institute of Nuclear Physics of the Academy of Sciences. The tireless scientist, throughout his 60-year career, carried out fruitful activities in responsible positions as a graduate student of the Institute of Nuclear Physics, scientific secretary of the Institute of Electronics, head of the department of the Tashkent Polytechnic Institute, rector of Termez State University, director of the scientific and educational center "FANUM" of the Academy of Sciences, made a worthy contribution to the development of domestic science and the training of mature personnel.

In 1968 he defended his candidate’s dissertation and in 1981 his doctoral dissertation. In 2000, he was elected a full member of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan.

Nazar Turaev, as a scientist who created a school in the direction of physical electronics, received high respect and recognition among the domestic and international scientific community.

Many articles, monographs and teaching aids by the dedicated scientist have been published on theoretical and practical issues of physical electronics.

As a caring and demanding teacher, he taught the basics of science to many young people. Under his leadership, more than 10 doctors of science and about 20 candidates of science were trained.

Nazar Turaev also took an active part in public affairs. In 1990–1995, as a member of the country’s parliament, he showed initiative in strengthening the legal foundation of national independence.

The merits of Academician Nazar Turaev in the development of science in the country are adequately appreciated by the state. He was awarded the honorary title “Honored Scientist of the Republic of Uzbekistan” and awarded the Order of “Mekhnat Shuhrati”.

The memory of a prominent scientist, a caring mentor, a modest man, Nazar Turaev, will forever remain in our hearts.
