UZINFOCOM launches a K-root server

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The single integrator UZINFOCOM was the first in Uzbekistan to officially launch the K-root DNS server. Placing a root server in the country will speed up the process of accessing web resources for local users, and will also reduce dependence on foreign servers. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Digital Technologies.

In March of this year, representatives of the UZINFOCOM negotiated with the RIPE NCC company to host a K-root server in Uzbekistan. And now this moment has come.

The ceremonial launch of K-root took place at the CAPIF 2 event. The two-day forum took place in Tashkent and focused on peering services, international connectivity and network security. The event was designed to promote the development of network infrastructure and exchange of experience in the region.

CAPIF 2 is a major international forum aimed at network engineers, peering coordinators, Internet providers, cloud service administrators and data center operators from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Afghanistan.

The K-root DNS server is one of 13 root DNS servers that are part of the Domain Name System (DNS) infrastructure. The job of root DNS servers, including K.Root, is to translate domain names into IP addresses, which allows devices on the Internet to successfully connect with each other.

The K-root server, like other root servers, serves queries at the top level of the DNS hierarchy, assisting in domain name resolution. This means that if your DNS server doesn’t know how to resolve a particular domain name, it will send a request to one of the root servers to get that information.

The K root server is operated and maintained by the RIPE NCC. This organization is responsible for the distribution of IP addresses and AS numbers in Europe, the Middle East and Central Asia.

Root servers play a critical role in the stability and reliability of the Internet by providing a basic level of DNS functionality.

The positive news is that the root server will lead to significant development of local and regional content, significantly improve the search process and improve the performance of the Internet. In case of failures on global servers, having a local root server will ensure uninterrupted access to online resources.

UZINFOCOM takes a leadership approach to the development of information technology, and this project becomes an important step in improving the Internet infrastructure of Uzbekistan. The company strives to provide modern technologies and improve the quality of Internet services for its customers and all citizens of Uzbekistan.
