Issues of expanding cooperation with Afghan Railways are being discussed

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 5-7 December, in the city of Termez, representatives of Uzbekistan Temir Yollari and the Afghan Railway Administration are holding regular annual consultations on the conditions for the technical operation of the Hairatan-Mazar-i-Sharif railway section for 2023.

Since 2011, the authorized Subsidiary of Sogdiana Trans of Uzbekiston Temir Yollari has been operating the railway section on the Afghan territory.

Taking into account the prospects for the implementation of the project of the railway line "Termez - Mazar-i-Sharif - Kabul - Peshawar" and the need to start training local Afghan specialists, since 2019, training has been carried out at the Training Center in the city of Termez, with further internships directly at the workplace.

In this regard, the parties are also discussing the possibility of attracting Afghan technical personnel provided by the Afghan Railway Administration for the operation of the Hairatan-Mazar-i-Sharif railway section.
