Law enforcement academy to be created in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A Presidential Decree "On the introduction of a qualitatively new system for training qualified personnel in the field of crime investigation" was adopted.

According to the Decree, a decision was made to establish the Law Enforcement Academy of the Republic of Uzbekistan on the basis of the Academy of the General Prosecutor’s Office and organize a continuous training system in it, aimed at training personnel in the field of crime investigation, ensuring close connection with practice based on a unified approach.

The specialized branch of the Tashkent State Law University was liquidated, its staff units, educational and material and technical base were transferred to the Academy.

The Academy is a specialized institution of higher education and research, which is part of the organizational structure of the General Prosecutor’s Office and has the status of a legal entity.

In-depth targeted basic training of specialists in the field of crime investigation and training, retraining and advanced training of personnel in the field of investigation and other areas of law enforcement is one of the main activities of the Academy.

From the 2023/2024 academic year, the educational process will be organized according to a two-stage system of higher education - bachelor’s and master’s programs in the areas of investigative activities and other areas of law enforcement.

At the same time, admission quotas for undergraduate studies are up to 250 students, for master’s programs - up to 50 employees of authorized state bodies with higher legal education.

The parameters for admission to the Academy are set annually by the President.

Privileges provided for in legislative acts for certain categories of applicants when entering other higher educational institutions of the republic do not apply to admission to the Academy.

Also, for employees of authorized state bodies, a mandatory procedure for professional retraining and advanced training is introduced in accordance with the relevant training programs at the Academy.
