Chairperson of the Senate holds a meeting with the Chairperson of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 28 November this year, Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbayeva received Chairperson of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Vladimie Volodin.
The parties discussed multilateral cooperation between the two countries, in particular, the promotion of promising projects in the trade, economic, investment, innovation, transport and logistics, agro-industrial, scientific and technical fields, the expansion of educational, cultural and humanitarian exchange, as well as inter-parliamentary cooperation.
Chairperson of the Senate Tanzila Narbayeva noted the achievements of the two countries in the field of inter-parliamentary cooperation in recent years, including the results of the autumn session of the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly, held in October this year in Samarkand. She stressed that this session marked the beginning of a new stage of cooperation between the CIS parliaments.
In turn, Chairperson of the State Duma Vladimir Volodin noted the special importance, within the framework of the parliaments' capabilities, to legislatively ensure decisions taken at the level of heads of state. Today, Russia is the main partner of Uzbekistan in the field of foreign economic relations, trade turnover between the countries is growing, and the need to strengthen ties in transport, industry, tourism and other areas is increasing.
During the meeting, the importance of further strengthening cooperation within the framework of international inter-parliamentary organizations was especially noted.
An exchange of views took place on topical issues of international and regional significance.
