Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Research by specialists from the Center for Obstetrics and Gynecology was presented at the November scientific and practical conference for obstetricians and gynecologists "Otto Readings" in St. Petersburg.
Uzbekistan was represented at an authoritative forum by the leadership and specialists of the Republican Specialized Scientific and Practical Medical Center for Obstetrics and Gynecology.
In the center of the presentation of the leading institution of the obstetric service are the issues of critical situations in obstetrics with an analysis of the reserves for improving the quality of care.
In particular, such a complication as "maternal sepsis" and the so-called "critical situations" or "near-miss" cases, in which the patients were in serious condition, but survived, were considered.
The international term near-miss arose in connection with the understanding of the great role of various emerging (unplanned) events in the further deterioration of the patient’s condition, the need for systematization, analysis and processing of a large data set of critical cases in order to draw specific conclusions and use them in practice. In particular, to prevent critical situations in the future and to remove the patient from a critical condition.
Critical Situation Auditing (ACS) aims to find the true missed opportunities in the management of critical patients and systematize them. Based on the identified missed opportunities, a set of practical recommendations is being developed.
Such an audit was carried out in 2020 in the regional perinatal centers and 3 maternity complexes in Tashkent.
At present, with the support of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the UNFPA country office, ACS technology has been introduced in all regions of Uzbekistan, and constant work is underway to improve its quality, regularity and consistency.
Audit of critical cases in maternity hospitals provides an opportunity to systematize the causes of missed opportunities. Among them, in particular, insufficient knowledge and skills of effective emergency care, requiring further development of the organization of services, the introduction and strict observance of the National Clinical Protocols in specific situations. Work on the implementation of such recommendations will give its positive results in the form of a decrease in critical cases in obstetric practice.
It should be noted that the next forum "Otto Readings" was held in the anniversary year for the Russian Research Institute of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductology named after A.I. BEFORE. Ott. This famous scientific center is 225 years old.
During the forum, experts exchanged experience in studying, preserving and strengthening reproductive health, outlined ways to develop cooperation in this direction.
