Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A delegation of Uzbekistan headed by the Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbayeva, at the invitation of the Chairman of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic, took part in the XI plenary meeting of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic Speaking Countries (TurkPA), which was held in the city of Cholpon- Ata of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The meeting was also attended by the heads of parliaments of the member countries of the Assembly - Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkey, deputy speakers of Hungary (has observer status) and Turkmenistan (as a guest of honor).
The theme of the plenary session was "Parliamentary diplomacy - the basis of trust and partnership."
In her speech, the Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis focused the attention of the participants on the use of the huge opportunities for cooperation between the parliaments of the Turkic-speaking countries that have not yet been used to solve urgent problems, using the mechanisms of parliamentary diplomacy.
During the meeting, a draft model law “On the Development of Social Entrepreneurship” was adopted, deputy secretaries general and heads of commissions of the Assembly secretariat were approved, reports of observation missions for the presidential elections in Uzbekistan in October 2021 and parliamentary elections in Kyrgyzstan in November 2021 were heard, and also referendum in Kazakhstan in June 2022.
As a result of the event, the Cholpon-Ata Declaration and the decision to rename the name TurkPA into the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic Countries were adopted.
