Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 24 June 2022, the Senate of the Oliy Majlis held a meeting of the interdepartmental working group on the implementation of the "road map" for the implementation of the initiatives of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan put forward at the 75th session of the UN General Assembly and the "road map" for development cooperation with the UN and its specialized agencies.
The purpose of the meeting is to monitor the implementation of the initiatives of the head of state. The meeting was attended by senators, heads of a number of ministries and departments, representatives of UN agencies in Uzbekistan and the media.
During the meeting, it was noted that Uzbekistan attaches great importance to interaction with the UN, cooperation with which is defined as one of the priority areas of our country’s foreign policy. The Republic actively and on a systematic basis participates in the activities of the organization and a number of its specialized institutions, such as the World Health Organization, the International Labor Organization, the World Intellectual Property Organization, the Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, FAO, IOM, the World Bank, the IAEA.
It was especially emphasized that the cooperation of Uzbekistan with the UN and its specialized agencies over the past few years has reached a qualitatively new level. Evidence of this is the speeches of the President of Uzbekistan with a speech at the 72nd, 75th and 76th sessions of the UN General Assembly, as well as in 2021 at the 46th session of the UN Human Rights Council, during which the initiatives of Uzbekistan in the field of strengthening international and regional security, further development of education, spirituality, ecology, tourism, protection of human rights.
Within the framework of the meeting, information from ministries and departments on the progress of the implementation of the two above-mentioned "road maps" was heard.
In particular, it was noted that by 2022 it is planned to fulfill 104 points. Of these, 60 objects have already been completed, on 3 points there was a delay in terms of implementation.
The senators stressed the need to deepen the coordination of the work of ministries and departments with UN structures. As a result of the meeting, a protocol was adopted with specific instructions to accelerate the implementation of the lagging points of the "road maps" and intensify work on the implementation of the initiatives of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
