Uzbekistan is ready to provide assistance to the people of Afghanistan - MFA

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Government of Uzbekistan is ready to provide all possible assistance to the people of Afghanistan in overcoming the tragic consequences of the natural disaster as soon as possible. This was stated in the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan. 

“Uzbekistan deeply regretted the message of numerous casualties and injuries, as well as significant destruction as a result of the earthquake in the Afghan provinces of Paktika and Khost,” the statement says.

“We express our sincere condolences to the families of the victims and wish a speedy recovery to all the victims,” the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

The Foreign Ministry noted that the Government of Uzbekistan is ready to provide all possible assistance to the fraternal people of Afghanistan in overcoming the tragic consequences of the natural disaster as soon as possible.

Earlier it was reported that on the night of 21-22 June, an earthquake of magnitude 6.1 occurred in Afghanistan. The source of the earthquake lay at a depth of 51 km. It is noted that tremors were felt by about 120 million people in Pakistan, Afghanistan and India.

At least 280 people have died as a result of a powerful earthquake in southeastern Afghanistan.
