Germany lifts travel restrictions imposed during pandemic

13/06/2022 10:58

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- It is now possible to enter Germany, including for tourism purposes. Restrictions may be reintroduced if a new wave of the COVID-19 pandemic begins, DW reported.

The German authorities have lifted all entry restrictions imposed since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. From Saturday, 11 June, entry into Germany is again allowed for everyone, including for tourist purposes, according to the website of the German Foreign Ministry. At the same time, certificates of vaccination against coronavirus infection, recovery, or up-to-date tests are no longer required at the border.

The exception is non-German citizens living in China, who still need an important reason to enter Germany in accordance with the reciprocity clause, the agency said. In addition, entry restrictions, as before, remain in relation to countries and regions in which new, dangerous variants of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus are actively spreading (at the moment there is not a single country on this list).

The decision to lift the corona virus restrictions for Germans and foreigners wishing to enter Germany was made by the federal government on 25 May. The press secretary of the German Ministry of Health, Hanno Kautz, at the request of DW, confirmed that the new rules apply to Russians and Belarusians. According to the decision of the government, it will be valid until 31 August. The authorities do not exclude that restrictions may be introduced again in the fall if a new wave of the pandemic begins.

The number of infected people in the world

The number of reported cases of infection with the SARS-CoV-2 virus worldwide has exceeded 535 million, according to the website of the American Johns Hopkins University. Since the beginning of the pandemic, according to official figures, 6.3 million people have died from the consequences of infection.
