The agency said currently about 1,128 media outlets are registered in Uzbekistan compared to 1,119 in early 2009.

UzAPI said number of newspaper made up 694, magazines - 240, bulletins - 20, information agencies - 4, TV channels - 59, radio channels - 19 and internet outlets - 92.

During January and mid-September, the UzAPI received 76 applications for registration of media outlets, of which 27 print and 19 online media outlets received licenses. Other applications are under review of the agency.

Due to financial problems and non-observance of legislation requirements, the agency annulled registration of 43 media outlets in the reporting period.
