Why is it important to get a booster dose?

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Dilorom Tursunova, Head of the Department of the Service for Sanitary and Epidemiological Welfare and Public Health, answered to question of why is it important to get a booster dose.

“From 1 April 2021, mass vaccination of the population against coronavirus began in our country, so far a total of 49.8 million doses of 7 types of vaccines against COVID-19 have been delivered to our country,” D. Tursunova notes. - An additional 12 million doses are expected to be delivered in the coming months.

It is known that at present, coronavirus infection often mutates and adapts to the external environment. This requires further improvement of methods to combat it.

In particular, at the moment, world experts recommend that people who have received a full course of vaccination undergo revaccination. The fact is that over time, the number of antibodies formed after vaccination begins to decline and falls to a level at which the body cannot protect itself.

Booster vaccination, on the other hand, increases the body’s resistance.

A booster dose can be given to individuals who have received a full course of vaccination (2 or 3 doses), once, not earlier than 6 to 6 months or more after the first dose of the vaccine.
