Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 25 November 2021, as part of the participation of the parliamentary delegation of our country in the regular plenary meeting of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly, which is taking place in St. Petersburg, the Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbaeva met with the Chairman of the Federation Council Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko.
Valentina Matvienko highly appreciated the ongoing reforms in Uzbekistan under the leadership of the President of the country Shavkat Mirziyoyev, as well as the presidential elections in Uzbekistan held on 24 October 2021.
“The relations between the two countries are of a trusting nature, they determine not only the agenda of Russian-Uzbek cooperation, but thanks to the efforts of the heads of our states, relations between our countries have reached an unprecedented level of relations in history,” Valentina Matvienko stressed. - The partnership is being successfully conducted in the economic, humanitarian and other spheres. The President of Uzbekistan pays great attention to the development of parliamentary cooperation. I would like to express my gratitude once again for the high award - the Dustlik order.
At the meeting, the parties discussed issues of strengthening Uzbek-Russian cooperation. It was noted that the visit of the head of our state Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the Russian Federation, which took place immediately after his re-election, once again confirms the special nature of bilateral relations.
- During the visit, the heads of state paid special attention to the importance of further development of Uzbek-Russian inter-parliamentary cooperation. The high appraisal of the leaders of our countries imposes on us even greater responsibility across the entire spectrum of cooperation, - noted Tanzila Narbaeva. - The priority task is the high-quality and timely implementation of all the agreements reached.
They also discussed issues of cooperation within the framework of the IPA CIS. The parties highly appreciated the results of the work of the sixth meeting of the Interparliamentary Commission on Cooperation between the Federation Council and the Senate of the Oliy Majlis held in Tashkent.
Taking into account the need to develop new directions of inter-parliamentary interaction, Tanzila Narbaeva invited Valentina Matvienko to visit Uzbekistan.
They also exchanged views on promising areas of cooperation between Russia and Uzbekistan, including on joint counteraction against the new coronavirus infection.
