Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Chairman of the Russian State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs Leonid Kalashnikov in an exclusive interview with Sputnik spoke about the positive aspects of Uzbekistan’s possible accession to the EAEU.
“We would like Uzbekistan to be in the EAEU not by episodes, not by an observer, but by a full-fledged member. We have done everything for this,” he said.
The deputy mentioned that many entrepreneurs are worried about the prospects for increased competition with foreign manufacturers in the event of the country’s joining the EAEU. But it’s not that simple.
According to him, the Uzbek business will only benefit from this, because a huge Russian market will open up for it. And he gave examples of Belarus, Armenia, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, whose trade turnover increased by 25% after joining the EAEU.
And the general technical regulations of the Union, added Kalashnikov, will make it easier for Uzbekistan to sell one or another product.
