A new round of development of cooperation between the business circles of Uzbekistan and Bangladesh

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 6 September, the Uzbek-Bangladesh Business Forum was held in Tashkent as part of the visit of a delegation of government and business circles of Bangladesh to Uzbekistan.
The event was attended by Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov, Advisor to the Prime Minister of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh Salman Fazlur Rahman, heads of chambers of commerce and industry of the two countries, as well as representatives of ministries, departments and business circles of both states.
The topic of the forum was the mechanisms for deepening investment, trade and economic cooperation, as well as interaction in order to create favorable conditions for establishing partnerships between entrepreneurs of Uzbekistan and Bangladesh.
During their speeches, the heads of delegations noted the broad opportunities for the development of bilateral cooperation in the agricultural sector, textile, leather and footwear, pharmaceutical industries, as well as in the fields of education and tourism. Particular emphasis was placed on the development of industrial cooperation - it was announced that the parties agreed to develop a separate "Roadmap" for joint work in this direction.
The heads of ministries, departments and industry associations of the Uzbek side, through presentations, comprehensively revealed the investment and industrial potential in each direction. Prospects for the implementation of high-tech projects with the introduction of advanced experience and technologies of manufacturers in Bangladesh were discussed.
The parties noted the positive dynamics of the development of mutual trade. So, in 2020 alone, the volume of bilateral trade increased by 13.5 percent compared to the previous year. Mutual readiness to implement practical measures to intensify trade relations between the two countries was expressed.
On the sidelines of the event, participants also had the opportunity to comprehensively familiarize themselves with the opportunities for doing business in Uzbekistan, discuss prospects for cooperation, and establish new business contacts for further joint work.
At the end of the forum, the heads of the two delegations called upon entrepreneurs and businessmen to intensify mutual cooperation and the successful implementation of promising projects.
Within the framework of B2B, preliminary agreements have been reached on the implementation of a number of joint investment projects in the IT, textile and pharmaceutical industries of Uzbekistan. The completion of negotiations on the considered projects and the start of their implementation is expected by the end of this year.
