The heads of states familiarized themselves with the exhibition of agricultural products of Tajikistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon visited the Vakhdati Millat (National Unity) garden in the Gafurov district of Sughd region.
The Syrdarya river flows through Sughd region, due to which agriculture is widely developed in the region, especially the production of fruits and vegetables. The region accounts for almost 43 percent of the total agricultural production of the country.
The Vahdati Millat Garden was established in 2008. It covers 700 hectares, of which 500 hectares are grown for fruit trees. There is a refrigerating room with a capacity of up to 300 tons.
Since 2018, fish farming has also been established. Currently, four ponds are used to breed fish of such species as grass carp, silver carp and carp.
Uzbek-Tajik cooperation in the field of agriculture is developing dynamically. During the high-level meetings, many partnership agreements in the agricultural sector were signed. In particular, during this visit, the head of our state signed a "road map" for the further development of cooperation in the field of agriculture.
The presidents got acquainted with the exhibition of agricultural products of Tajikistan organized on the territory of the garden. Responsible persons of the two countries were given instructions regarding the mutual supply of fruit and vegetable products, their storage and export.
This concludes the official visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Tajikistan. At the Khujand international airport, the head of our state was accompanied by the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon.
