Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 2 June 2021, within the framework of a working visit to the Republic of Uzbekistan, Deputy Director General - Head of the IAEA Department of Nuclear Energy Mikhail Chudakov held talks with the leadership of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Uzatom Agency.
During the meetings, issues were discussed on a number of areas of cooperation in the development of nuclear infrastructure, advanced training and training of highly qualified personnel. He also got acquainted with the activities of the Information Center for Atomic Technologies.
At the meeting organized by Uzatom between M. Chudakov and high school students of school No. 260 in Tashkent, Deputy Director General M. Chudakov briefly spoke about the activities of the IAEA, as well as the state and prospects of the development of nuclear energy, spoke about the advantages and disadvantages, citing specific examples of both negative and positive aspects of traditional energy as well as renewable energy sources. During a conversation with schoolchildren, M. Chudakov noted - “Today, there is no alternative to nuclear energy to solve the problem of providing stable and cheap electricity. Nuclear energy has recently become an integral part of modern civilization. But its benefits are undeniable. "
During an open dialogue, schoolchildren asked questions of interest to Mikhail Chudakov, to which they received detailed and interesting answers.
Mr. M. Chudakov’s visit to our republic continues, a meeting with teachers and students of the Tashkent branch of the National Research Nuclear University "Moscow Engineering Physics Institute" (MEPhI) in Tashkent is scheduled for June 4, where he will deliver a lecture on the modern development of nuclear energy in the world, as well as a visit to the Industrial Safety Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Institute of Nuclear Physics of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
