President of Uzbekistan pardons 100 convicts
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On the eve of the celebration of the Eid ul-Fitr, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a decree "On pardoning a group of persons serving sentences of imprisonment, sincerely repented of their deeds and firmly embarked on the path of correction."
According to the decree, on the eve of Ramadan Khayi Eid ul-Fitr t, 100 citizens were pardoned in Uzbekistan who are serving sentences for committing crimes, who sincerely repented of their deeds and firmly embarked on the path of correction.
Of those pardoned, 3 persons were completely released from serving the main sentence, 43 persons were released from serving the sentence on parole, the sentence of 10 persons was replaced by a more lenient one. Also, the terms of 44 persons are reduced.
The head of Uzbekistan also pardoned 12 foreign citizens, 4 men over 60 years old, 6 women, 52 persons who participated in the activities of banned organizations.
