Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 11 May, an online meeting was held between ISIS and the Foundation for Strategic and International Research (FSMI) of Spain.
The parties exchanged views on the current state and prospects of bilateral cooperation between Uzbekistan and Spain, agreed on the development of a joint action plan, providing for the holding of scientific and practical seminars, conferences and research on topical issues of Uzbek-Spanish interaction, international relations and the world economy with the involvement of leading experts from the two countries.
Director of the Foundation Jose Ventura Ballester stressed that the planned events will contribute to the implementation of reforms and transformations in the country, as well as the strengthening of bilateral relations between Uzbekistan and Spain.
Supporting this opinion, Deputy Director of ISMI Sanjar Valiev noted that recently there has been a mutual growth of interest of the business circles of the two countries to strengthen and expand business ties. This situation is due to the rapid recovery of the economy of Uzbekistan, opening up prospects and opportunities for investment.
The online meeting, according to Mariano Molina Ferrari, Director of the Fund’s Department for Academic Research, is designed to create a solid conceptual basis for closer interaction between ISMI and the Fund and fill the bilateral agenda with specific strategic projects that could reveal the enormous unrealized potential of cooperation.
In this context, it was emphasized that the potential of bilateral interaction gives full grounds for confidence that in the near future, relations between Uzbekistan and Spain will continue to actively develop in the spirit of mutual respect, friendship and fruitful cooperation.
As a result of the event, the parties expressed mutual interest in establishing a close expert dialogue, which can provide opportunities for exchanging views on a wide range of issues on the bilateral agenda, and also act as a kind of generator of ideas that allows you to determine new promising areas of cooperation between Uzbekistan and Spain.
The Spanish Foundation for Strategic and International Studies was established in 2007 with headquarters in Madrid, and carries out research and training activities in the field of security and international relations. The structure of the Foundation includes the Graduate School of Strategic and International Studies and the School of Government Officials.
