The admission quota for specialties of clinical residency is doubled

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Presidential Decree “On the consistent continuation of reforms carried out in the health care system and the creation of the necessary conditions for increasing the potential of medical workers” was adopted in Uzbekistan.
According to the Decree, from 1 July 2021, 10 thousand family medical centers and family polyclinics will be allocated, from 1 January 2022 - an additional 10 thousand staff units of nursing staff to establish the activities of "medical teams" and expand the scope of providing better medical services to the population.
For the positions of heads of medical associations of districts (cities) with difficult conditions, if there is such a need, qualified executives and specialists of republican specialized medical centers, their branches, higher medical educational institutions, clinics with them will be attracted for a certain period on a contractual basis.
From 1 July 2021, the work of nursing staff will be included in the list of activities (works, services) that individual entrepreneurs can engage in.
According to this, nursing activities can only be carried out by persons with secondary medical or higher education in the direction of higher nursing, from 1 January 2022, who have passed registration in the relevant information system of the Ministry of Health.
Also, from the 2021/2022 academic year, the admission quota for the specialties of clinical residency has been doubled.
At the same time, a new training system in clinical residency is being introduced, which provides that:
- the second year of training in clinical residency is carried out in the branches of specialized medical centers in the regions, regional multidisciplinary medical centers for children and adults, branches of the Republican Center for Emergency Medical Aid, as well as for a certain part of residents - at the workplace;
- grants will be allocated from the local budget in a sufficient amount for the training of doctors of narrow specialties necessary for the regions. Graduates who received education on the basis of this grant will have to work in the respective region for three years;
- The cost of living for doctors of a narrow specialty, sent to the region to carry out their activities, are covered by the local budget.
