Entrepreneurs in regions receive equipment to launch and expand their entrepreneurial initiatives

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 28-29 April, within the framework of a joint project of the Ministry of Employment and Labor Relations of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the UN Development Program "Promotion of youth employment in Uzbekistan", a ceremony was held to transfer equipment to representatives of small and medium-sized businesses to launch new and expanding existing business projects in Surkhandarya, Kashkadarya region.
The event was attended by the Deputy Minister of Employment and Labor Relations, the Deputy Khokim of the Region, the Head of the Main Employment Department of the Ministry of Labor and Welfare, representatives of the territorial departments of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Ministry for Support of Mahalla and Family and the Yoshlar-kalajagimiz Foundation, as well as entrepreneurs receiving equipment.
The entrepreneurs of Surkhandarya region were donated 57 units of production equipment and special equipment free of charge. As a result of the implementation of these entrepreneurial initiatives, an additional 36 new jobs will be created for women and youth, and 18 women and youth representatives will have the opportunity to study modern professions and develop entrepreneurial skills.
About 42 units of production equipment and special equipment were donated to entrepreneurs of Kashkadarya region free of charge. As a result of the implementation of these entrepreneurial initiatives, an additional 30 new jobs for women and youth will be created, and 41 women and youth representatives will have the opportunity to study modern professions and develop entrepreneurial skills.
Activities of the selected entrepreneurship projects:
- production of children’s, women’s and men’s clothing, training and employment of youth and women based on the usta-shogird tradition;
- opening of a sewing workshop for the production of bedspreads and seasonal women’s and children’s clothing, employment of women;
- production of women’s and children’s clothing, luxury curtains and wedding sets;
- opening of a sewing workshop for sewing women’s dresses, luxury curtains and work clothes;
- production of children’s knitted clothing to order.
In total, within the framework of the joint project of the Ministry of Employment and Labor Relations and the UN Development Program "Promotion of youth employment in Uzbekistan", funded by the Government of the Russian Federation, and with the financial support of the Japanese Government, 323 units of modern types of sewing and IT equipment, furniture and equipment are provided for a total of 1 176 940 669 soums for young 34 entrepreneurs (21 or 61.7% of which are women) from six target regions of the country.
The implementation of these initiatives is expected to create 187 new jobs, 132 (over 70%) of which for women, and increase employment and income opportunities for 159 women and youth.
It is worth noting that the entrepreneurs who received the donated equipment were selected on a competitive basis and trained during a four-week online training course on the basics of doing business, marketing, financial management and social skills.
