Uzbek DPM meets with the President of the Islamic Development Bank Group
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - On 4 May 2021, Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov held a meeting with President of the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) Group Bandar Hajjar, during which issues related to preparation and holding in Tashkent of the 46th Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the IDB Group.
The course of preparation for the event and the implementation of measures to address related organizational issues were reviewed. The operational interaction with representatives of the Bank of specialized working groups, consisting of representatives of the relevant ministries and departments from the Uzbek side, was noted. Further steps to organize the event are outlined - B. Hajar informed the Uzbek side of his intention to visit Uzbekistan in the near future to conduct a road show dedicated to broad coverage of the Annual Meeting in domestic and foreign media.
The progress of the implementation of projects and initiatives in Uzbekistan, implemented with the support of the Islamic Development Bank, was also discussed. The head of the Bank highly appreciated the implementation of the initiative to create an Economic Support Fund in Uzbekistan and expressed hope that this financial institution will become a powerful tool to stimulate economic development, reduce poverty and improve the welfare of the country's population. In this context, the prospects for interaction were considered to mobilize additional resources and attract new partners to join the Fund, such as the Saudi Development Fund, the Public Investment Fund, financial institutions of the Arab Coordination Group and private investors.
Following the meeting, further actions were outlined within the framework of the bilateral cooperation agenda.
