Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A meeting was held between the ministries of transport of Uzbekistan and Germany on the development of mutually beneficial constructive relations between our countries in the transport sector.

The online meeting was attended by Deputy Minister of Transport of the Republic of Uzbekistan A. Muminov, acting Deputy Chairman of the Board of JSC "Uzbekiston Temir Yollari" H. Omonov, head of the department of international relations and foreign economic relations of the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure of Germany B Benedict Janich, representatives of the embassies of the two countries and other officials of the ministries of transport of Uzbekistan and Germany.

The parties especially noted the active joint work carried out in the development of the transport sector of Uzbekistan. Thanks to the strategic partnership of the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Uzbekistan, JSC "Uzbekiston Temir Yollari" and the German railway concern "Deutsche Bahn AG".

It should be emphasized that the issues of improving the leading sectors of the economy of the Republic of Uzbekistan are in the center of attention of the country’s leadership. In this regard, the transport industry of Uzbekistan in general and railway transport in particular are no exception. Within the framework of the visit of the President of the Federal Republic of Germany Mr. Frank-Walter Steinmeier in May 2019 to the Republic of Uzbekistan, an Agreement was signed to improve the activities of Uzbekiston Temir Yollari JSC, within the framework of which work is underway to transform Uzbekistan Temir Yollari based on the best practices of the German Railways. The development of modern practical proposals for the development of railways, a creative approach to the implementation of advanced ideas and experience of developed countries in Uzbekiston Temir Yollari are among the main strategic directions in the multifaceted activities of the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

- In order to fulfill the instructions of the country’s leadership, a joint working group of specialists from the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Uzbekiston Temir Yollari and the consulting division of the company "Deutsche Bahn AG" prepared a draft resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On structural reforms in the field of railway transport of the Republic of Uzbekistan", - noted the Deputy Minister of Transport of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdusamat Muminov. - Currently, it is planned to expand joint work with German specialists to implement the prepared recommendations. By implementing solutions in the field of digitalization, the efficiency of business processes will be increased and the creation of a compliance control system in the railway sector of the Republic of Uzbekistan based on the experience of Germany will reduce the influence of the human factor on decision-making.

Within the framework of the videoconference, a report was heard on the joint work done in the field of reforming the railway industry of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

- Uzbekiston Temir Yollari and the railways of Germany represented by the concern "Deutsche Bahn AG" are strategic partners and have been successfully cooperating since 2013, - stressed the acting director. Deputy Chairman of the Board of JSC Uzbekiston Temir Yollari Hayitbay Omonov. - German experts worked on such strategically important projects as the construction of the Kamchik railway tunnel 19.2 km long, the electrification of the Karshi-Termez railway line, as well as the construction of the Sergeli and Yunusabad lines of the Tashkent metro. Currently, together with German specialists, an analysis is being carried out and recommendations are being prepared to improve the organizational structure and management of railways, increase financial sustainability, develop logistics potential and transit corridors, digitalization, and improve the competitiveness of rail transport.

“Not only partnerships have developed between our countries, but also good friendly ones,” said Benedict Janich, head of the department of international relations and foreign economic relations of the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure of Germany. - In Germany, the entire economy of the country is based on railway transport. In addition, all railways in the world are currently undergoing a renaissance. This became especially evident in the context of the pandemic and we all became convinced of the importance of rail transport. Therefore, in modern conditions, it is necessary to develop this sphere in the status of successful formation, and in this vein we express our readiness to support Uzbekistan.

Undoubtedly, the experience of countries that have experienced the transformation of the railway sector is invaluable. The meeting also discussed the planned joint work to improve the passenger economy for the organization of multimodal transportation of passengers and tourists, the development of station complexes in order to expand the access of the population and their maximum compliance with modern trends in the organization of public services.

Unfortunately, due to the coronavirus pandemic around the world, it has not yet been possible to implement agreements on the exchange of experience of specialists, internships for employees of the railway industry and training of our students at the enterprises of Deutsche Bahn AG. However, as this situation stabilizes, it is planned to begin a full-fledged implementation of projects for advanced training and training in the field of railway transport, taking into account the best practices of Germany.

At the end of the meeting, it was agreed to further expand joint work with the German side, with the aim of further deepening mutually beneficial cooperation in the transport and logistics sector.
