Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 11 April 2021, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov in Doha met with the Minister of Trade and Industry of Qatar, Ali bin Ahmad al-Kuwari.

At the meeting, the sides discussed issues of developing trade relations, implementing industrial cooperation projects, as well as holding joint economic events.

During the conversation, the Qatari side was provided with extensive information about the large-scale economic reforms being carried out under the leadership of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the creation of favorable conditions for investment activities, including in free economic zones, and the privatization of state-owned enterprises.

Confirming the existence of a huge unrealized potential for the development of cooperation, the Minister of Trade and Industry of Qatar stressed the need to intensify trade ties and investment interaction in all sectors of the economy of mutual interest.

The Qatari side expressed interest in working out joint investment projects, first of all, for the production of food products and ensuring food security, participation in the development of the tourism infrastructure of Uzbekistan.

During the meeting, agreements were reached on preparations for a meeting of the joint Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation, on intensifying direct contacts between the business circles of the two countries.
