Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- During the period from 1-3 November, the Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Uzbekistan Adkham Ikramov visited Baku (Azerbaijan Republic) to participate in an extraordinary meeting of the Turkic Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI).
The Turkic Chamber of Commerce and Industry (TCCI) was established in July 2019 on the basis of the Business Council of the Turkic-speaking states, the members of the TCCI are Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey and Uzbekistan.
The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan joined this organization on 15 October 2019 within the framework of the Meeting of the Heads of State of the Cooperation Council of Turkic-speaking States in Baku.
During the visit on 2 November 2020, meetings of the delegation of the Turkic Chamber of Commerce and Industry with the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Minister of Economy of Azerbaijan, as well as a meeting of the Turkic Chamber of Commerce and Industry on the topic: “New era of socio-economic development of Azerbaijan” were held.
At the meeting, speeches were made by the Minister of Economics of Azerbaijan, Secretary General of the Cooperation Council of Turkic-speaking States B. Amreev, as well as the heads of the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of the Turkic Council countries.
Emphasizing the importance of the Turkic Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the activities of the CCTS, B. Amreev noted the need to use the potential of the CCI as an effective mechanism in overcoming the urgent problems that have arisen due to the coronavirus pandemic, associated with the reduction of world industry, foreign trade relations and investment flows.
Establishing interaction between the countries participating in the CCTS in the field of public and private partnerships in order to implement joint projects on the territory of the countries of the organization is also one of the priority areas.
B. Amreev also focused the attention of the participants on the initiatives of the Republic of Uzbekistan put forward by the President of the Republic Shavkat Mirziyoyev on 15 October at the 7th summit of the Cooperation Council of Turkic-speaking States in Baku, including the need to create a "Joint Turkic Investment Fund", which is in great demand for support for vulnerable segments of small and medium-sized businesses in the CCTS countries.
The President of the Turkic Chamber of Commerce and the Union of Chambers of Commerce and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey R. Hisarchiklioglu noted that a very useful meeting was held last year with the participation of 1200 businessmen of the Turkic world, and today’s event is a logical continuation of the joint work begun by the CCTS member countries. Then they were provided with detailed information on the progress of the Organization’s activities in 2020.
In his speech, he highly appreciated the cooperation between the CCIs of the CCTS member countries, where one of the most important results of bilateral Uzbek-Turkish cooperation is the Tashkent branch of the Turkish University of Economics and Technology (TOBB ETU), created at the initiative of the Presidents of Uzbekistan and Turkey.
Also at the event, the Chairman of the CCI of Uzbekistan Adkham Ikramov made a speech. He noted the need to develop joint work to strengthen the role of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the development of trade, economic and interregional cooperation between business circles of the countries of the Turkic-speaking states, incl. through the development of new formats of events using digital formats.
Moreover, cooperation was proposed in the development of transport and logistics routes, in strengthening cooperation in the field of tourism, and also to pay special attention to the improvement of industry, including the textile and agricultural industries.
At the end of his speech, Adkham Ikramov proposed to the Chambers of Commerce and Industry to actively use the opportunities of the Tashkent branch of the Turkish university TOBB ETU, by accepting students from the countries of the Turkic Council on the recommendations of the Turkic Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The heads of the CCIs of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan also made reports at the event.
Within the framework of the visit, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received a delegation of the Turkic Chamber of Commerce and Industry headed by Secretary General of the CCTS B. Amreyev, where they discussed priority areas of mutually beneficial cooperation between the member countries of the Turkic Council, both on bilateral and multilateral bases.
During the meeting, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev noted that the meeting of the Turkic Chamber of Commerce and Industry, which is being held in Baku, is a very significant event.
