New hydropower capacities launched

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- At hydro power station-14 (HPS-14), located on Bozsu Canal, modernization was completed, which allowed to bring the total capacity of this hydroelectric power station to 15 MW. This was reported by the press service of Uzbekhydroenergo.

The modernization of the HPS-14, located near the capital in Zangiata district, was carried out by Power Construction Corporation of China Ltd (China).

HPS-14, which is part of the Cascade of Lower Bozsuv HPPs, was built back in 1940 by hashar. In the hydroelectric power station, the total capacity of which was 13.2 MW, 2 hydroelectric units were installed, which, as a result of many years of operation, came into a state of moral and physical deterioration, which did not allow them to continue their activities.

As a result of the modernization carried out in accordance with the plan, two units were installed at the station, each of which has a capacity of 7.5 MW, which made it possible to bring the total capacity of the hydroelectric power station to 15 MW. These hydraulic units have the ability to produce electricity during periods of low water.

It should be noted that the output of HPS-14 at full capacity is one of the important achievements of the country’s economy, leading to the development of industrial enterprises, the growth of human well-being.

The development of the country’s hydropower, including through the introduction of new hydroelectric power stations, the modernization of hydraulic structures, provides an increase in the capacity of electricity production, which creates the basis for the well-being of the population, the further development of the entire socio-economic complex of its regions.
