Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Uzbekistan held a regular meeting of the Uzbek-Russian Business Council on 1 October 2019.
Members of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, members of the Council of the Federation of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation took part in its work.
During the meeting, the successful implementation of the “green corridor” system between Uzbekistan and Russia was emphasized to simplify customs procedures, which allowed to accelerate the delivery of fresh and dried fruits and vegetables grown in Uzbekistan to customers in various regions of the Russian Federation and increase the volume of their products. In this regard, it was noted that the interest of Russian business in working with Uzbek colleagues is growing.
Speaking about new vectors of mutually beneficial partnership, it was noted that they appear largely due to serious changes for the better in the conditions of doing business in Uzbekistan. Thus, the excise tax on goods imported into Uzbekistan has been reduced for many commodity items, and for some items it has been completely canceled. In addition, the conversion of the national currency was introduced, and the mandatory sale of foreign currency earnings by exporters was canceled. Along with this, free economic zones are being created. The introduction of simplified customs and phytosanitary control of the supply of fruits and vegetables from Uzbekistan to Russia also contributes to the development of business relations.
As a result, in the first half of 2019, the Russian-Uzbek mutual trade turnover increased significantly compared to the previous year. Many Russian companies maintain close ties with partners from Uzbekistan.
Prospects for the development of interregional business cooperation between Uzbekistan and Russia are another issue on the agenda of an interested dialogue between business circles of both countries. It was noted that the visits of Uzbek business representatives to Russian regions and Russian visits to Uzbekistan over the past period allowed launching a number of mutually beneficial projects.
During the meeting, attention was focused on the further development of cooperation through business councils that allow practical assistance to entrepreneurship. Indeed, in addition to resolving specific issues of interaction, the councils strive to ensure the fulfillment of contractual obligations, which fully meets the interests of both countries.
During the meeting, the results of the activities of the Uzbek-Russian Business Council for the past period were examined, and the tasks for the coming period, promising areas of foreign trade cooperation and intersectoral cooperation of enterprises and organizations of the two countries were discussed.
