Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The 16th plenary session of the Uzbek parliament’s upper house has approved the draft state budget for 2009 and several bills on 4 December.

Senators approved the state budget of Uzbekistan for 2009.

Then, senator’s considered a bill on introducing amendments and addenda to some legislative acts of Uzbekistan in connection with the improvement of the election law. The bill provides for increasing the number of seats in the parliament’s lower house up to 150.

Then the bill on introducing amendments and addenda to some legislative acts of Uzbekistan in connection with the improvement of the procedure for applying amnesty was discussed and approved.

Members of the upper house approved the bills on introducing amendments and addenda to the laws on NGO’s activities, on insurance, on military service and to the Tax Code of Uzbekistan.

The bill on rescue services and the status of rescuer was also approved.
