Uzbekistan bans use of GMO in children foods

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan is planning to ban use of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) in children food products.
President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov approved a state programme “The Year of Healthy Mother and Child” on 9 February.
According to the programme, Uzbekistan is planning to introduce amendments to the law “On quality and security of food products”, which will ban use of GMO in food nutrition.
The Uzbek government also plans to introduce limit to import and consumption of food products, which include GMOs.
