Japan allocates 211 million yens to Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan and Japan signed an exchange note within the project of the Japan Government “Japanese Grant Aid for Human Resource Development Scholarship” on 7 August 2015.
Ambassador of Japan to Uzbekistan Fumihiko Kato and Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Adham Ikramov signed the exchange note, the press service of the Embassy of Japan in Tashkent said. Within the document, Japan will provide 211 million yens (about US$1.69 million) to Uzbekistan for training of Uzbek students at the Japanese universities.
Fumihiko Kato said that the Japanese Government has been implementing this project since 1999 and it is aimed at training highly skilled public servants, who engaged in development of the state in such areas as economy, finance and legislative system.
He said that 265 citizens of Uzbekistan studied at Master degree courses at the Japanese universities within the programme. He said that they work for development of Uzbekistan after returning home.
Total sum issued to Uzbekistan within the exchange note is 211 million yens (US$1.69 million). Since 1999, Japan provided 4.382 billion yens to this programme, the envoy said.
Fifteen citizens of Uzbekistan will start their education in Japan in August 2015, the Ambassador said. He noted that selection of the new group of students for next year also started.
