UzLiDeP conference considers increasing competitiveness of economy

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan National University named after Mirzo Ulugbek hosted a conference “Compliance of educational system to requirements on improving competitiveness of economy: reached results and tasks”, which was organized by the Youth Wing of the Executive Committee of Political Council of UzLiDeP.
Members of UzLiDeP, MPs of the Legislative Chamber, MPs of Tashkent city Council of People’s Deputies, teachers and students of the university and others attended the event.
At the event, it was underlined that Uzbekistan pays great attention to develop education system in the country. Uzbekistan adopted a national programme of training cadres in 1997, which introduced new stages of education such as mandatory secondary special education, professional education and higher education – Bachelor and Master degrees.
It was stated that Uzbekistan annually adopts state programmes, which also includes measures to upbringing physically and spiritually developed youth, training specialists, strengthening material base of educational institutions.
The participants noted that annually Uzbekistan spends 10-12% of gross domestic product to developing and reforming education sphere. Share of expenses to education sector from the state budget makes up over 35%.
In its pre-election programme, UzLiDeP promoted issues of deepening education reforms and introduce international standards to the sector. The party supports development of competition in school and higher education system, speed up introduction of module system in education process, etc.
The party also calls for stage-by-stage decreasing state financing of universities via expanding paid services and introduction of distance education.
The participants exchanged opinion on creation of electronic base in sphere of activity of youth with high intellectual potential, further improving system on supporting gifted youth.
The participants also offered to study international experience on cooperation of universities, colleges and lyceums with business entities and improve legislation in this area.
