Second round of parliamentary elections starts in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The second round of voting at 22 electoral districts on elections of MPs to the Legislative Chamber of oily Majlis of Uzbekistan will be held on 4 January 2014.
In the result of elections to the lower house of the parliament, which took place on 21 December 2014, none of candidates in 22 from 135 electoral elections could collect 50% of votes. In this connection, the cEC adopted a decision on the second round of the voting on 4 January 2015.
The second round of elections will be held in Karkalpakstan Republic, Andijan, Bukhara, Jizzakh, Navoi, Samarkand, Syrdarya, Khorezm, Kashkadarya regions and Tashkent city (one electoral district each), Namangan and Tashkent regions (two electoral districts each), Ferghana region (three electoral districts) and Surkhandarya region (five electoral districts).
Two candidates, who collected the most votes, will participate in each electoral district in the second round of elections.
Some 15 candidates to MPs from Democratic Party of Uzbekistan “Milliy Tiklanish”, 11 candidates from People’s Democratic Party, nine candidates from UzLiDeP and 9 candidates from Social-democratic party of Uzbekistan “Adolat” will participate in the second round of elections.
In the elections, which took place on 21 December 2014, the MPs were elected in 113 electoral districts. The movement of entrepreneurs and business people – The Liberal-Democratic party of Uzbekistan (UzLiDeP) won 47 seats, Democratic Party of Uzbekistan Milliy Tiklanish – 28, People’s Democratic Party of Uzbekistan – 21, Social Democratic Party of Uzbekistan Adolat – 17 seats.
