Chairperson of CEC Mirzo-Ulugbek Abdusalomov said that all parties held their congresses in line with the requirements of legislation and nominated candidates to MPs of Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan. Afterwards, the parties applied to the CEC with request on registration of the candidates to MPs.
The CEC formed a working group, which considered submitted documents by the parties. The working group considered issues of nomination of candidates to MPs and compliance of candidates to requirements of the legislation.
At the conference, it was noted that all works on nomination of candidates to MPs of Legislative Chamber were conducted in line with the requirements of election legislation. Among registered candidates, about 31.8% are women, which ensures meeting of the article 22 of the Law “On elections to Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan”. This article says that at least 30% of candidates should be women.
About registered candidates to MPs of the Legislative Chamber, 26.5% of registered candidates are representatives of education sphere, 20.2% - production sphere, 20.8% - economists, 14.2% law specialists and 10.1% - healthcare specialists. All have graduated higher educational institution. About 21.7% of candidates of MPs have doctor degree or candidate of science degree. About 13.8% were earlier elected as MPs.
The registration of candidates to MPs of the Legislative Chamber completed in line with requirements of the article 26 of the law “On elections to Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan”.
The list of candidates to MPs of the Legislative Chamber will be published in local mass media, the CEC said.
The pre-election agitation started after registration of candidates to MPs of the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, which is also conducted in line with the requirements of the election laws.
In line with the legislation of Uzbekistan, candidates to MPs and political parties will have equal right to use mass media. The CEC said it determined schedule of appearance of candidates at mass media.
They will receive all necessary conditions to meet with the voters. In line with changes to legislation, the parties will organize meetings with the voters themselves.
