Elections-2014: Uzbek political parties continue to collect signatures
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Process of collection of signatures of voters to support political parties at parliamentary elections is continuing in all regions of Uzbekistan, Narodnoye Slovo reported.

In line with the article 21 of the law “On elections to Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan” to nominate their candidates should submit necessary documents, including signature sheets, to the Central Election Commission by 12 October 2014.

All political parties – UzLiDeP, Milliy Tiklanish, People’s Democratic Party and Adolat – expressed their intention to participate in the election.

The paper said that process of collection of signatures shows that legal knowledge of population is improving.

In line with article 20 of the law “On elections to Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan”, the CEC issues signature sheets to the political parties after announcement of elections.

According to law, the political parties, registered at Ministry of Justice of Uzbekistan, should nominate candidates to the post MPs four months before the election. The political parties should collect at least 40,000 signatures to support their participation in elections.
