Opening Ceremony of Asian Games held in Incheon

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- An opening ceremony of the 17th Summer Asian Games was held in Incheon, South Korea, on Friday, 19 September 2014.

President of Uzbekistan Football Federation and head of National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan Mirabror Usmonov participated in the opening ceremony of the Asian Games.

The organizers presented interesting show, which was dedicated to development of the Asian region. The main notion of the show was unity and friendship of all nations of Asia.

After opening ceremony, the guests, who gathered at the stadium, welcomed Uzbekistan national team with applauses. Two-time Olympic Games medalist, two time World Champion and winner of the Asian Games was flag bearer.

About 296 athletes from Uzbekistan will participate in the Asian Games. They will compete in 32 sports.

Heads of Olympic Committee of Asia and chairperson of the organization committee of the Games delivered speeches. Afterwards South Korean President Park Geun-Hye opened the Incheon Asian Games.

The ceremony was completed with a concert of Korean stars, including rapper PSY. He wrapped up the event.

The delegations of 45 states arrived in Incheon, which include about 14,000 people, including 9,802 athletes. About 10,000 representatives of mass media will cover the event.

The 2014 Asian Games will run for 16 days and see around 10,000 athletes in 36 sports compete for 439 gold medals.
