Uzbekistan to invest US$111.7m to reconstruction and construction of water pipes

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In 2020, the level of availability of the centralized water supply in all the cities of Uzbekistan should reach 100% and in rural areas - 85-90%, the newspaper Pravda Vostoka reported.
The level of availability of sewage services in cities and towns, which have sewage system, will reach 70% in 2020.
Uzbekistan implements seven large projects due to budget resources, foreign investments and other sources of co-financing.
Overall sum of investments will make up US$111.7 million, which does not include resources, directed to other projects outside seven priority projects.
The projects will help Suvsoz to provide water to population and enterprises without disruption and help it to save 4.6 billion soums due to saving 49.3 million KWH of electricity.
Islamic Development Bank allocated resources to help to improve sewage system of Tashkent and the project is implemented now.
About US$47 million were invested to reconstruction of three city sewage treatment plants - Salar, Boz and Su Bektemir, construction discharge sewage collector with the length of 6.5 kilometers, strengthening of technical equipment of base maintenance of the sewerage network, as well as for purchase of three sets of laboratory equipment for analysis and monitoring wastewater quality, the newspaper said.
