Uzbek President meets with farmers of Ferghana region

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov visited Ferghana region on 26-27 June to familiarize with social-economic reform, as well as construction works, the press service of the President of Uzbekistan said.
In the second day of the visit, Islam Karimov visited Rohatoy farm in Quva region, the press service of the President of Uzbekistan said.
Uzbek leader had a talk with the farmers and agriculture specialists and underlined efficiency of farmers movement and perspectives of its development.
Islam Karimov said that before independence Uzbekistan imported wheat from abroad. He noted that Uzbekistan reached wheat independence after it became a sovereign country. Uzbek leader said that now foreign specialists are studying experience of Uzbekistan in agriculture sector.
Rohatoy Farm led by Avazbek Teshaboev produce cotton and wheat at 349 hectares of land. The farm also produces fish. The farm has cold storage with the capacity of 200 tonnes to store fruit and vegetable products.
Uzbek leader said that Uzbekistan produced large volume of wheat, which is result of peace in the country. He noted that Uzbekistan should protect its peace.
Speaking about perspectives of farm movement, President Islam Karimov said that the farmers should become decisive force in agriculture sector. He said that the farmers should solve new tasks and participate in improving prosperity and well-being of people.
Driver of CLAAS harvester Dilshod Hotamov briefed the President on efficiency of agriculture equipment, which are produced in Uzbekistan in cooperation with German partners. He said that the CLAAS harvesters help to harvest yield without any loss.
