Uzbekistan destroys 1.27 tonnes of drugs

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 26 June 2014, law enforcement bodies of Uzbekistan destroyed over 1,270 kilograms of drugs, which were seized from illegal turnover.
The event was dedicated to the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, which is marked on 26 June.
At the blast-furnace of one of Tashkent enterprises, some 85.3 kg of heroin, 705 kg of opium and 266,5 kg of marihuana, 175 kg of hashish, as well as large volume of poppy straws, hemp, psychotropic medicaments.
According to National information-analytical center on control over drugs under the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan, law enforcement revealed 7.680 cases of drug related crimes in 2013 against 8,155 in 2012.
They seized 2326 kg of drugs in 2013 (3043.4 kg in 2012), of which 121.6 kg (261.5 kg) were heroin, 851.3 kg (770 kg) of opium873.5 kg (1,451 kg) marihuana, 143.3 (230.7kg) of hashish and 336.3 kg (330 kg) of koknar.
According to official data, Uzbekistan has destroyed over 52 tonnes of drugs since 1994.
