Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 25 June, Tashkent hosted a round table “Effective Work with Volunteers”, organized by UNDP/UNV Project "Social Innovation and Volunteerism in Uzbekistan", to discuss with national partners the Toolkit of Working with Volunteers
Volunteering is not uncommon practice for the Uzbek society. Historically, mutual assistance and good deeds for development of Mahalla, district, city and country are the integral parts of the culture and life of the people in Uzbekistan.
UNDP/UNV Project "Social Innovation and Volunteerism in Uzbekistan" is making efforts to further promote the comprehensive culture of volunteerism among organizations and volunteers. In this regard, the Project produced methodological materials – Toolkit for Working with Volunteers.
As a next step in this activity, the Project held the round table with the participation of NGOs, volunteers, representatives of the private sector. The purpose of this roundtable is to discuss this document and collect the feedback from interested parties for further improvements required in the materials.
Round table will be accompanied by five-six weeks piloting of the developed material, with the condition of publishing them online and offline for the wide application of current and potential users.
UNDP/UNV Project "Social Innovation and Volunteerism in Uzbekistan" plans to establish and implement the methodological base of volunteers’ activities in Uzbekistan aimed at better communication between the volunteers and organizations.
Materials, discussed at the round table, will be another step in this direction, along with the already functioning web portal for volunteers and social innovators www.iAct.uz. It is assumed that this will become an additional mechanism for interaction between people and organizations, as well as promotion of volunteers’ activities for sustainable development and prosperity of Uzbekistan.
In addition, this kind of interaction can serve as mutually beneficial terms of cooperation between volunteers wishing to gain experience in the organization of their interest, and organizations that lack the volunteers in carrying out their activities. Making this kind of cooperation within clear and understandable framework for volunteers and organizations should strengthen the prestige of volunteerism in Uzbekistan and make it more structurally organized.
