Uzbek FM holds talks with visiting EU envoy

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov received Janos Herman, a newly appointed special representative of the European Union to Central Asian, on 4 June 2014.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, the sides discussed actual issues of bilateral relations between Uzbekistan and the EU, as well as implementation of the joint EU programmes and international problems.
The sides expressed mutual interest in gradual development of mutual beneficial cooperation on various directions.
The officials also discussed current state and perspectives of cooperation in trade-economic and investment spheres, including creation of high technological production capacities based on advanced European experience.
Janos Herman expressed gratitude to invitation to the international conference “About main food programme implementation of reserves in Uzbekistan”, which starts in Tashkent, and said that the EU is interested in cooperation with Uzbekistan in food safety sector.
The officials also exchanged opinion on perspectives of bilateral relations in cultural-humanitarian sphere.
Janos Herman has been appointed as Special Envoy of the European Union to Central Asia in April 2014. He was appointed for six month. He replaced Patricia Flor at this post.
