Uzbekistan and France discuss development of trade-economic ties

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France to Uzbekistan Jacques-Henry Heuls held negotiations at the Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations, Investment and Trade of Uzbekistan (MFERIT) on 7 March 2014.
At the meeting, the sides discussed perspectives of further expanding bilateral trade-economic, investment and financial-technical relations in context of preparation to next session of the intergovernmental commission and joint business forum, which will be held in Paris, France, on 12-13 March 2014.
The sides considered issues of speeding up implementation of joint projects with leading French companies such as Sanofi, Saint Gobain, Air Liquide, Accor, L’Oreal and others, as well as cooperation within financial-technical cooperation with French Development Agency.
France is one of the main economic partners of Uzbekistan in the European Union. In 2013, trade turnover between Uzbekistan and France rose by 15.8% to US$323 million, the press service of the MFERIT said.
Currently, there are 17 enterprises with French capital in Uzbekistan, while nine firms and companies of France accredited their offices in the country.
