Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Russia grew by 9.4% in 2013, Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Russia Ziyadulla Pulatkhodjaev said.
Speaking at the meeting, dedicated to the results of social-economic development of Uzbekistan in 2013, the Uzbek envoy said that the volume of trade between two nations reached record level in history of trade-economic relations.
He said that according to the statistic data, the growth of trade turnover last year made up 9.4%.
As reported earlier, the trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Russia in 2012 grew by 12.6% to US$7.63 billion. This means that trade turnover between two states exceeded US$8.34 billion in 2013.
He noted that over US$600 million of Russian investments were directed to projects in Uzbekistan in such areas as fuel-energy complex, telecommunication and organization of production.
Ziyadulla Pulatkhodjaev said that reforms in Uzbekistan helped to improve investment climate and attract advanced technologies from developed countries.
He recalled that Uzbekistan adopted a programme of modernization of economy till 2015, which envisages implementation of over 500 projects for US$54 billion in oil and gas, chemical, mining, machinery and other industries.
Foreign trade turnover of Uzbekistan exceeded US$28.86 billion in 2013, of which US$15.087 billion fell to share of exports and US$13.798 billion – imports.
