Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan will soon compete with wagon producers of Central Asia and Russia, director of Foundry Mechanical Engineering Plant under Uztemiryolmashtammir Bakhodir Eshmuradov said.
Bakhodir Eshmuradov recalled that Uzbekistan Temir Yollari state joint stock railway company completed reconstruction of Foundry Mechanical Engineering Plant under Uztemiryolmashtammir in 2013.
He said that the plant is outfitted with the latest equipment and technologies from German companies like Kunkel Wagner, Otto Junker and Nederman, as well as other European states and Asia.
Eshmuradov noted that the enterprises started to produce goods and works on certification of its products. He added that the Russian institute is testing its products.
Bakhodir Eshmuradov said that the plant purchased a unique pressing equipment with the capacity of 800 tonnes, which have no analogues in Uzbekistan. He said that it produces wagon walls. He underlined that the plant signed agreements with GM Uzbekistan, Claas, Tashkent Tractor Plant and energy companies for supply of goods for 51 billion soums in 2014.
In 2014, the plant is planning to produce goods for US$65 million to Uzbekistan Temir Yollari and export products for US$26 million, he said.
The head of the plant said that Foundry Mechanical Engineering Plant is planning to produce over 600 wagons in 2014 and export 179 of them. He said that the plant will produce goods for 152 billion soums in 2014 against 41 billion soums in 2013. He said that these figures are based on agreements, signed within the first month of 2014 and the plant works on signing new agreements.
Bakhodir Eshmuradov stated that the enterprise began to sign agreements with Russian companies on supply of wagons. He added that the Russian side is ready to buy 1,500 wagons in 2014.
He said that the cost of produced goods at the Uzbek plant is much cheaper compared to Russian analogues. He said that Uzbekistan purchased one set of wagon from Russia for US$35,000, while production of one set of wagon in Uzbekistan costs US$11,000.
Eshmuradov said that the enterprise will soon to compete with wagon producing companies of Central Asia and Russia.
The company invested US$150 million to reconstruct Foundry Mechanical Engineering Plant. The project was financed due to a loan of US$48.8 million of the Fund for Reconstruction and Development of Uzbekistan and own resources of Uzbekistan Railways.
The significance of this project is added up by the production of several types of import substituting spare parts that is established at the enterprise itself. 167 types of foundry produce are localized to date at this plant with a capacity of 26.5 thousand tonnes of foundry goods a year. This allows for US$15 million to be saved every year.
The scheme facilitates foundry for localized production of more than 15 thousand tonnes of steel, in excess of 10 thousand tonnes of cast iron and 500 tonnes of nonferrous metals per annum, along with the manufacturing of 1,200 new train coaches, production of 950 large-capacity containers and the repair of 1,500 freight carriages.
The mill has launched production of essential components not merely for industrial sectors of the railway sphere, but also for leading machine-building manufacturers of the country. The production of new types of freight carriages has been launched in 2012.
The establishment of new types of production at the enterprise has included the cargo coaches undergoing cardinal overhaul and modernization, new such carriages manufactured, along with the foundry of cast iron, metal and nonferrous materials, production of spare parts for rolling stock and railroad bed as well as nonconventional metallic hardware.
The prime cost of the manufactured goods is projected to be reduced in the future by satisfying the demand in the foundry produce by other industrial sectors of the nation. The plant capacity is envisioned to be increased in the construction of freight coaches for up to 3,000 a year and the team expects to launch production of other types of train carriages.
