Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 29 January 2013, in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, the EU funded INOGATE project will hold a Local Information Event for Uzbekistan titled “Path to Sustainable Energy through Enhancement of Energy Saving / Energy Efficiency and Development of Renewable Energy Sources”.
The event is organized together with National Coordinating Unit of the European Union’s Technical Assistance Program under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Uzbekistan and NHC “Uzbekneftegaz”.
The event aims to communicate the INOGATE work program for 2014, in order to encourage the involvement of Uzbek institutions in co-operation with the EU; to provide information on all ongoing and upcoming INOGATE technical assistance projects relevant to Uzbekistan; raise awareness on the EU-Uzbekistan energy cooperation amongst Uzbek energy stakeholders in general, and especially in the field of harmonisation of electricity and gas standards; regulation in the energy sector and energy market development; energy saving/energy efficiency enhancement and renewable energy sources development; as well as to present the key observations and recommendations to the INOGATE/IEA Status Report for Uzbekistan.
The main topics of discussions will include the issues of International cooperation in the energy sector as well as presentations by Uzbek partners, Cabinet of Ministers, Ministry of Economy, State Inspectorate “Uzgosneftegazinspeksiya” and State Inspectorate “Uzgosenergonadzor"and SJSC “Uzbekenergo.”
INOGATE is an EU-funded programme promoting international energy co-operation between the European Union and the Partner Countries of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan. It supports the EU policy framework of the Baku Initiative, the Eastern Partnership’s Energy Security Platform, the Energy Community and the Central Asia Development Cooperation.
INOGATE’ s activities focus in four key areas: 1) convergence of energy markets on the basis of the EU principles; 2) enhancing energy security; 3) supporting sustainable energy development; and 4) attracting investment in energy (particularly in Sustainable Energy) projects of common and regional interest. INOGATE is one of the longest running EU programmes since 1996.
Sustainable Energy Programme for Central Asia (CASEP): Renewable Energy Sources (RES) - Energy Efficiency (EE) – is a recently launched INOGATE Project This INOGATE Project covers the issues related to the INOGATE area of cooperation - Sustainable Energy for five Central Asian INOGATE countries (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan). CASEP is a three-year project, running until April of 2016, having an overall objective to contribute to the increased security, reliability and efficiency of energy supplies of the in the Central Asian countries and thereby to improve the preconditions for regional integration of efficient and sustainable energy systems and increased cooperation with EU countries.
