Uzbekenergo starts to select vendors for project on modernization of hydro power stations

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- State joint stock company Uzbekenergo announced a general procurement within the project “Modernization of hydro power station in Tashkent, Shakhrikhan and Kadirya Cascades”.
The Republic of Uzbekistan has received approval from Islamic development bank for lease financing in the amount of US$100 million from the Islamic Development Bank toward the cost of the “Modernization of Hydropower Stations in Tashkent, Shakhrikhan and Kadirya Cascades” in Uzbekistan, and it intends to apply part of the proceeds to payments for goods, works, related services and consulting services to be procured under this project.
Within the project, the winner should carry out modernization of hydro power stations Tashkent (GES-9), Shakhrikhan (GES YuFK-2) and Kadirya (GES-3) Cascades. The winner should replace old equipment and install new ones.
Within the project, Uzbekenergo will select a company, which will render consulting services. The company will carry out supervision of the project.
Uzbekenergo state joint stock company will implement projects on modernization of hydro power stations with total cost of US$335 million till the end of 2016.
Six projects of modernization of cascades of two separate stations and four cascaded of hydro power station in Tashkent and Ferghana region were included to investment programme for 2014-2016.
The projects envisage modernization of technological equipment, which will increase generating capacities of the hydro power stations in total up to 70 megawatt.
