Industrial enterprises to direct US$1.45bn to modernization in 2014

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Industrial enterprises of Uzbekistan is planning to invest US$1.448 billion of own resources in modernization of their capacities in 2014, which rose by 35.8% year-on-year.
President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov approved a targeted list of 261 projects on modernization, technical and technological re-equipment, carried out due to own resources of the enterprise. Total cost of these projects makes up US$43.7 billion.
The progamme has 136 new projects with total cost of US$32.4 billion. Within the programme, it is planned to continue implementation of 125 projects worth US$11.34 billion.
State joint stock railway company Uzbekistan Temir Yollari will use the largest volume of investments in 2014. The company will direct US$319.5 million to modernization of capacities and construction of infrastructure.
The companies of the mining industry will invest US$288.3 million into modernization and expansion of resource base, Uzbekneftegaz – US$247.8 million and Uzbekenergo – US$218.3 million.
