Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Asia Trans Gas, an Uzbek-Chinese joint venture, will invest US$316.2 million to complete construction of the Uzbek part of the third line of the gas pipeline Central Asia-China.
Total cost of the project on construction of the third line of the gas pipeline Uzbekistan-China makes up US$2.2 billion.
Asia Trans Gas, an Uzbek-Chinese joint venture, was founded to design, construct and exploitation the Uzbek part of Turkmenistan-China gas pipeline. The venture was created on an equal footing with Uzbekneftegaz national holding company and CNPC.
Asia Trans Gas started construction of the third line of the gas pipeline Central Asia – China in December 2011.
The capacity of new pipeline will be 25 billion cubic meters a year. It will deliver gas, mined from Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan, to China. Total length of the pipeline is 1,840 meters.
The financing of the Uzbek part of the pipeline is conducted due to loan of the State Development Bank of China and investments of the China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC).
Construction of Central Asia – China gas pipeline was started in July 2008 and completed in December 2009. The length of the line is about 7,000 km.
The second line of the Uzbek part of the pipeline has been commissioned in December 2010. Its capacity is 30 billion cubic meters a year. The launch of the third line will help to increase capacity of the pipeline to 55 billion cubic meters.
Asia Trans Gas will launch construction of the fourth line of the Uzbek line of the gas pipeline Central Asia-China in 2014.
