Uzbekistan to complete implementation of 132 projects in 2014

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan plans to complete implementation of 132 projects with total cost of US$4.229 billion in 2014, RIA Novosti reported quoting the resolution of the President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov.
In line with the document, it is planned to complete construction of 53 new production capacities for US$3.212 billion and 79 projects on modernization of existing capacities for US$1.017 billion.
At the same time, it is planned to use US$1.346 billion to complete realization of these projects.
Uzbekneftegaz national holding company is planning to launch seven objects with total cost of US$3.273 billion. In particular, it is planned to complete third line of gas pipeline “Central Asia-China” with the capacity of 25 billion cubic meters a year and two booster compression stations in Kashkadarya region.
Navoi Mining and Metallurgy Combine will complete implementation of nine projects for US$326.5 million. The combine will construct one uranium mine and complete expansion of phosphorous complex and modernization of mining transportation equipment.
Almalyk Mining and Metallurgy Combine will commission six projects worth US$272 million to build a new gold mine, sulfuric acid plant and a cement factory, as well as reconstruction of the zinc plant.
Earlier reported, Uzbekistan plans to realize over 300 investment projects for US$55.4 billion in 2009-2014. About 50% of these funds are foreign investments, 30% - own resources of the Uzbek companies and 20% - Fund for Reconstruction and Development of Uzbekistan, as well as commercial banks of Uzbekistan.
